WOW!!! Just spent 7 hours watching the whole 8 episodes of ‘Unbelievable’ on Netflix! It’s like a good book you just can’t put down!
UNBELIEVABLE follows the true story of a series of rapes that took place in Washington state and Colorado between 2008 and 2011. I was urged to watch it by a friend who deals with these sorts of cases here in the UK, and was impressed by how well it has been represented, although it’s set in America, where the justice system is slightly (but not so!) different.
The first victim, a teenager who was not believed by the police, is played by Kaitlyn Dever, whose performance is excellent and totally compelling. In fact the acting throughout, the way the scenes are shot and the direction, is all awesome. I was also impressed by the sensitive way the victims and crimes are depicted, without use of overly violent or sexual scenes – a throwback to the times before directors thought we needed to see every gory detail in order for us to be able to understand what was happening!
